Chief engineer of FAST telescope passes away
September 15, 2017
In 2015, Meridian Line Films were granted access to FAST – the world’s largest telescope project in China.
Sadly, on 15th September 2017, the Chief Engineer and scientist of this project, Professor Nan Rendong, passed away after losing his fight with cancer.
Not only was Professor Nan a talented and well-respected scientist who dedicated over 20 years to the FAST project, but we found him to be a kind, intelligent and dedicated man who took the time to explain his work and the importance of it to us at Meridian Line Films.
His contribution to physics and the scientific study of pulsars has been internationally recognised and since his death, the FAST Telescope has already detected two pulsars, with one being over 16,000 light years away.
