How China Made It coincides with the 40th anniversary of the ‘Reform and Opening Up’ policy, initiated by Deng Xiaoping. The policy led to a radical change in the lives of hundreds of millions of Chinese people.

We discover how this change was experienced for the millions of everyday Chinese people who lived through it. From the farmers and migrant workers, to the famous faces of China we all know including broadcaster and entrepreneur Yue-Sai Kan, and Lenovo founder Liu Chuanzhi.

The documentary provides a fascinating, personal insight into how people’s lives have changed and also seeks to answer the bigger questions: how did such an enormous change come about, and how?
