Meridian Line Films Heads to World Congress of Science and Factual Producers

Meridian Line Films’ Creative Director, Liz McLeod, and Head of Production, Rob Slater, attended the ‘World Congress of Science and Factual Producers’ (WCSFP) which was this year held in San Francisco.
WCSFP is the biggest opportunity for factual producers, filmmakers, broadcasters and distributors from around the world to meet, share ideas and make new connections. Some of the world’s biggest broadcasters were in attendance including the BBC, National Geographic and, from China, CCTV, CICC and Tencent.
This year, one of the major talking points revolved around the challenge to traditional broadcasting from new tech companies and new media, including Facebook, Apple and Amazon, who are all moving into commissioning. Also discussed was the rise of ‘fake news’, its future and how factual film-making can help fight against it.
