Meridian Line Films Selected as One of Channel 5’s BAME Indie Partners

Meridian Line Films will be one of nine indies across the UK to be nurtured by Channel 5 under its new BAME scheme. The BAME Scheme is the successor to last year’s ‘small regionals’ initiative, which resulted in almost £4m worth of commissions and 35 hours of content for the broadcaster.

Meridian Line Films will now be assigned a commissioner mentor and will also receive development funding.

The BAME-led indies selected for the scheme hail from across the UK, with Meridian Line Films being one of two indies selected from Yorkshire.

Nacressa Swan, co-founder of Meridian Line Films, said: ‘We’re thrilled that Channel 5 have chosen to partner with us. It’s an exciting opportunity for Meridian Line Films to work alongside the channel of the year.’

Ben Frow, the Channel 5 controller, commented that as a result of the BAME scheme, he hopes to see ‘new mainstream commissioned programmes in the peak time schedule’.
